Explore a world that is Larger Than Life. Canada’s Yukon is one
of the last remaining wilderness areas on the planet and hosts some of
the most incredible scenery and natural phenomena in the world; your Locals Know Ultimate Upload Contest Yukon Ultimate Adventure Prize gets you up close to experience the most spectacular of these in person.
Upon reaching Whitehorse, the capital city of the Yukon, you will relax and enjoy two nights at Inn on the Lake,
a 4.5-star lakeside resort just south of town. You can adjust to the
pace and tranquility of the Yukon before flying north of the Arctic
Circle to visit Old Crow, the most northerly village in the Yukon.
You will be welcomed into the Traditional Territory of the Vuntut Gwitch’in First Nation
and accompanied by a Gwitch’in elder who will share the Gwitch’in
culture and explain the deep ties that have connected the Gwitch’in
people and the Porcupine Caribou herd for millennia.

With over 100,000 caribou, the Porcupine Caribou herd represents one of
the last great mammal populations on earth and the largest migration on
the North American continent. You will travel beyond Old Crow to see
the Porcupine Caribou as they pass through on their way to their
wintering grounds. Your visit to Old Crow will be punctuated by a
traditional Gwitch’in sweat ceremony before you fly back to Whitehorse
for the next leg of your Yukon Ultimate Adventure.
Traveling by float plane and ski plane you will start your day on the
waters of Schwatka Lake and stay overnight on the largest non-polar
icefield in the world, deep in the heart of the St. Elias Mountains.
From Whitehorse you will fly to the historic ghost town of Silver City,
on the shore of beautiful Kluane Lake, just outside the boundary of Kluane National Park and Reserve. From here you will transfer planes and fly to the fully-catered remote, glacier base camp of Icefield Discovery, located inside Kluane National Park and Reserve which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This incredible location affords spectacular views of Mount Logan,
Canada’s highest and North America’s 2nd highest peak and the largest
mountain massif in the world. Surrounded by the Kaskawulsh, Logan and
Hubbard Glaciers as well as Mount Logan and the smaller peaks of
Augusta, Steele, Lucania and Queen Mary Mountains you can choose to
enjoy some gentle climbing, or just explore nearby on foot or skis.
Your private driver will meet your ski plane back at Kluane Lake and drive you along the historic Alaska Highway,
through Haines Junction and towards Whitehorse. Before reaching the
capital city, you will step aboard a privately chartered helicopter and
be flown to moderate altitude where you will enjoy hiking with endless
vistas without the need to climb all the way up. Hiking downslope you
will arrive at the Uncommon Journeys elegant yet remote base
camp of Yurts, where you will be treated to gourmet dining and relax
within the peace and solitude of this serene location.
A hike, mountain bike or ATV ride will bring you to one of the finest
Yukon tourism kennels and 50+ sled dogs. You will learn about these
incredible canines and how their ancestors helped open the Canadian
North up to development over a century ago. Your stay will show you see
these friendly, humourous yet powerful dogs in their day-to-day lives.

Your final night’s accommodation includes deck-side hot tub, private
square-log cabin and another chance to experience the Yukon’s Northern
Lights.
Aurora Borealis,
or Northern Lights, have captivated and enthralled humans for thousands
of years, and even turned hardened Arctic explorers into awe-inspired
poets. Your Yukon Ultimate Adventure Prize will show you some of the
most spectacular highlights of this incredible land, and will certainly
be an experience that is Larger Than Life.
