Living Ghost Town and Alpine Flower Gardens

Memories and vestiges of northern mining history are still fresh in Keno City, creating a local authenticity that visitors won’t soon forget. Once a booming frontier mining town, Keno City was named after the popular gambling game. Today, this sleepy hamlet is a rustic cluster of buildings and home to an eclectic mix of artists, miners and old timers with fewer than 20 full-time residents.

Keno’s attractions include a top-notch mining museum, hiking trails, an alpine interpretive centre and artist studios. Learn about local history, the geological landscape, and the unique lives of silver miners at the Keno City Mining Museum, and find out about alpine wildflowers, birds and wildlife at Keno City Alpine Interpretive Centre. The Keno City community maintains a pretty campground and several residents run summer tourist businesses.
