Land of the Gwich'in and People of the Caribou
The only community in the North Yukon region is the traditional and close-knit Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation village of Old Crow, a fly-in community located at the confluence of the Crow and Porcupine rivers. Old Crow is located on the migration path of the Porcupine caribou herd. Harvesting caribou continues to be important to the Gwich'in and caribou is their primary food source.
If you’re planning a journey to North Yukon and Old Crow, make arrangements well in advance. Amenities are limited in Old Crow, though local residents are now offering services like wildlife viewing tours and unique cultural experiences.
