Haines Junction

Mountain Village Beneath the Kluane Front Ranges
Known to Yukoners as "the Junction", Haines Junction sits at the intersection of the Haines Road and Alaska Highway. Surrounded by dramatic scenery, this picturesque mountain village nestled at the edge of Kluane National Park and Reserve of Canada boasts a wilderness adventure playground in its backyard.
Kluane National Park and Reserve is part of the largest internationally protected area in the world including four interconnected wilderness parks in Alaska, B.C. and the Yukon which are designated a World Heritage Site. Haines Junction is the ideal base for wilderness excursions like river rafting, canoeing, hiking, fishing and glacier flightseeing. Kluane is a wonderful place to explore by road and for day trip adventures including guided nature walks, paddling or horseback riding. Enjoy the campsites and fishing on Kathleen and Pine Lakes, explore hiking trails accessible from the Alaska Highway or plan a multi-day backcountry trek into the park.
The community of Haines Junction serves as the hub of the Kluane region with a Visitor Reception Centre, national park headquarters and a range of tourist services including hotels, B&Bs and cabins, RV parks, campgrounds, restaurants and outdoor adventure operators.
The Yukon was officially established as a Canadian Territory on June 13, 1898.
