Tourism Open House - Speed Dating

Have you ever wanted to meet the department’s tourism staff, pose a question or share an idea but haven’t had the time? Here is your chance. Staff have opened their offices to you for 8 rounds of speed dating – each 10 minutes in length to get the ball rolling.

YOU choose with whom you would like to meet with and we’ll put together the schedule and provide it to you and the department prior to October 26th.

From the list below, please choose up to 8 staff to meet with plus 4 alternates (in case some staff are everyone’s first choice). You do not have to choose all 8; if you only want to meet with 3 for example, that is fine too.

Responsible for operations of the Tourism branch

Deborah Greenlaw, Administrative Assistant
Responsible for administration for all units within the Tourism branch

Robin Anderson, Market Manager Europe/UK
Responsible for all marketing activities (consumer, trade and media) in German-speaking Europe, UK, France, and the Netherlands.

Linda Bierlmeier, Acting Marketing Specialist, Trade
Responsible for travel trade in North America. She works with receptive operators, motor coach, travel agents, tour operators and partners in the industry; also attends trade shows, provides training and FAM tours.

Shanna Epp, Acting Manager, Fulfillment and Publications
Responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing publications. Works with industry on consumer shows in North America.

Stephen Reynolds, Digital Marketing Strategist
Leads strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Tourism Yukon websites, e-marketing, social media and online tools.

Jim Kemshead, Marketing Specialist, Media Relations & PR
Leads the Global Media Relations strategic planning and is directly responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of North American media relations & public relations initiatives.

Denny Kobayashi, Senior Manager, Global Marketing
Our Marketing Team Leader is the person to speak to about the Marketing Strategy, Marketing Plan, Air Access, and Partnerships. He is the Yukon representative on national and international working groups and the Industry Liaison.

Margaret Goodwin, Market Manager, Asia-Pacific
Responsible for all marketing activities (consumer, trade and media) in Australia, Japan and South Korea. Also monitors the China market.

Katia-Annik Torkia, Marketing Specialist, Consumer
Responsible for consumer initiatives in North America.

Analyses and produces Yukon visitor statistics as well as finds out who’s coming and from where

Cathryn Paish, Tourism Resource Coordinator
Find out how Land Use Planning, and/or Environmental Assessment affects tourism, and see wilderness tourism resources and activity maps.

Visitor Services and Photography

Frank Wilps, Manager Visitor Services
Responsible for overseeing all 6 Visitor Centres plus one airport kiosk, liaising with communities, and the Stay Another Day and Transfer Agreement funding programs.

Brian Sweeney, Visitor Information Assistant
Ensures all the Visitor Centres are properly stocked at the beginning of the season with the full range of publications/rack cards and magazines (for all businesses that rely on tourists for their livelihoods) that the Centres use throughout the season.

Chris Balderas, Travel Counsellor / Bilingual VIC Receptionist, Whitehorse Visitor Information Centre.
Responsible for visitor inquiries, designing vacation plans for future visits, and day-to-day VIC operations during winter months (Oct-May).

Marten Berkman, Supervisor, Digital Assets and Photography
Provides general media services to Government of Yukon, as well as creating, licensing and cataloguing photography and video for Tourism marketing purposes, and arranging distribution to agencies and media.

Rob Bales, Digital Asset Librarian and Photographer
Manages the Government of Yukon media libraries including photography and video; creates, licenses and catalogues photography for tourism marketing and authorizes distribution to tour operators, agencies and media.

Corporate Services

Lucy Coulthard, Director, Corporate Services
Responsible for the provision of financial services and advice to the Department and its clients, including procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and financial reporting.


Jane Osler, Independent Consultant & Explorer Quotient Authorized Trainer
Jane Osler is one of Canada's foremost experts on Explorer Quotient. As one of the CTC's first EQ authorized trainers she has helped organizations at all levels in tourism to understand and bring EQ to life through their strategy, marketing and product development.
