Can I Mush

Banner Photos:

We provide athletics and private dog-sledding tours. With a maximum of two participants at a time, we ensure exclusive experiences.

You drive your own dog team on bush trails meandering the boreal forest. You may have to push (run) uphill and keep your balance downhill while braking with one of your feet. This is not for the arm-chair musher travellers but more for the adventure spirited persons.

We believe in engaging dog-sledding experiences that are built on trust and respect between Musher and Dog. Be aware dog-mushing is addictive!

Cathers Wilderness Adventures

Cathers Wilderness Adventures is a 2 generation family business offering year-round wilderness experiences.
Located on the shore of Lake Laberge, 50 km north of Whitehorse, there is no road to our wilderness homestead. Guests arrive by dog team, snow machine, boat or canoe, according to the season.
Our experience includes over 30 years of guiding and living year-round at this spectacular location and thousands of miles of travel in the Yukon wilderness - camping, guiding, sled dog racing, and hauling supplies to our home.
Our trips focus on small groups or individuals and are personally guided by our family. In winter, we welcome guests for dog sledding and outstanding views of the night sky, including northern lights when they are out. In summer, we offer cabin-based stays, where you can explore the beautiful region on guided day trips by foot, canoe, or boat. Or join us for a camping trip: hiking and backpacking with pack dogs, or canoe or boat camping on the historic Yukon River.

Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race

Banner Photos:

The Yukon Quest is a 1,000 mile dog sled race that happens each year between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska. This incredible event takes place in February when weather conditions can be the coldest and most unpredictable. Between 25 to 30 mushers sign up for the race from around the world, each with a team of 14 canine athletes to take them to the finish line.

The Yukon Quest starts on schedule regardless of weather and lasts 10 to 15 days until the final dog team arrives at the finish line. The race has taken place each year since 1984 over rough, sometimes hazardous terrain.

Whitehorse will host a number of events during the 2016 Finish Week from Saturday Feb 13th to the 20th, including free mushing rides, Questfest, Meet the Mushers and our famous Finish & Awards Banquet. Not to mention the exciting chance to see mushers cross the finish line!

There are many opportunities to be involved either as a fan, visitor or volunteer.
