Yukon River - the classic canoe trip for everybody !
Away from civilization we follow the old tracks of the "Gold Seekers" and "Adventures" of the past on their way to the Klondike gold fields. From Whitehorse to Dawson City we pass abondaned settlements, trapper cabins and old paddle wheelers.
We experience the wilderness close by. Camps in untouched nature, stories from the goldrush at the evenning camp fire and with a little bit of luck we might see a grizzly or a moose bull along the shore.

The Yukon is a mecca for paddling enthusiasts. Whether you canoe, kayak or raft, you'll find the perfect water adventure on one of our 70 wilderness rivers and countless scenic lakes.

Canoeing and Kayaking

With several must-do rivers among the international paddling set, and four designated Canadian Heritage Rivers, water adventurers make the pilgrimage to the Yukon for once-in-a-lifetime wilderness paddling experiences.

Choose among mellow classics like the Big Salmon, the Teslin, or the fabled Yukon River that combine scenery, wildlife viewing, history, fishing and friendly rapids. Exhilarating rivers like the Snake, Bonnet Plume and Wind flow through one of the most remote regions of North America.

For flatwater enthusiasts, experience roadside gems including Kathleen, Fox, Tagish, Five Mile, Frances, Frenchman and Chapman lakes.

    Binet House Museum

The Binet House Museum is located in a restored 1920's heritage building at 304 Second Avenue. This house was built for Gene Binet, one of Mayo's Forefathers, and his bride Jewel. Gene Binet retired and left with his family for California in the fall of 1938 after he had sold his residence, hotel and store. The Binet House was occupied by several Mayo families over the years and in 1990, after it had been vacant for some time, the building was purchased by the Village of Mayo and turned into a Museum/Interpretive Centre.
