Wilderness Parks

Get back to nature in the Yukon wild

Yukon is one of the world’s last pristine places, and we’re fortunate that much of it is protected in wilderness parks.

Iconic wilderness landscapes

Yukoners aren’t the name-dropping kind, unless we’re talking about our cherished wild places. Heard of Tombstone, Kluane or the Chilkoot? Paddled the Alsek, the Snake or the Firth? Our national and territorial parks are world-renowned for signature backcountry hikes and river journeys, as well as day trips, scenic flights and cultural experiences.

Unmatched adventure and wildlife

Imagine floating past calving glaciers, flying over the world’s largest non-polar icefields or hiking through towering peaks. Or taking a stroll on a forest trail, or spotting northern birds and wildlife from a canoe. Our parks are home to a diverse array of northern wildlife, from millions of migratory birds to grizzly bears to the Porcupine caribou herd.

    Can I Mush

    Banner Photos:

We provide athletics and private dog-sledding tours. With a maximum of two participants at a time, we ensure exclusive experiences.

You drive your own dog team on bush trails meandering the boreal forest. You may have to push (run) uphill and keep your balance downhill while braking with one of your feet. This is not for the arm-chair musher travellers but more for the adventure spirited persons.

We believe in engaging dog-sledding experiences that are built on trust and respect between Musher and Dog. Be aware dog-mushing is addictive!

The Canada Games Centre, built as a host venue for the 2007 Canada Winter Games, is a multi-purpose venue located in the heart of Yukon’s capital city, Whitehorse. Minutes from Whitehorse hotels, the Centre is the largest venue of it’s kind in Northern Canada and one of few in Western Canada.

With two arenas, a flexihall, a fieldhouse, aquatic centre, fitness centre, indoor running track and flexible event space, the Canada Games Centre really does offer it all.
