In Yukon, you can hike over history, through a UNESCO heritage Site jewel and even into an oxymoron… mountainous tundra. And you’ll never forget the thrill. And this is no 9 to 5 experience. Under the Midnight Sun of summer, the lights are on almost 24 hours a day so there’s none of that hitting the sack at 9 because it’s too dark to play. No way. Up here there are things to do and see long after you’ve run out of the strength to do them.
If your paddling life list includes a true wilderness river, you’ve come to the right place. Each of our 70 wild Yukon rivers is unique and offers canoeing adventures which include a diversity of wildlife, landscapes, geology and history. However, there’s one trait all Yukon rivers share and that’s nature at its most untouched and unspoiled.
The one thing we can absolutely guarantee, year after year, is snow. Snow that covers the boreal forest, snow that coats the peaks in white, snow that melts beneath the ski, or flies from the snowmobile track, or flutters from the paws of a dog team. Snow: we’ve got it. And we’re not talking about that on-again, off-again stuff that is ice one day and water the next. No, we’re talking snow, the real stuff with the infinite variety of flakes. From November to April, snow turns Yukon into a winter playground.
