The festival aims to provide an accessible environment for community members and visitors to interact directly with the arts and explore their creativity.

In August of 1896, George Carmack, Dawson Charlie and Skookum Jim discovered gold in what is now called Bonanza Creek. Soon after came one of the world's greatest gold rush stampeded; nearly 100,000 people attempting to strike it rich in the Klondike gold fields.

Yukon Gold Panning Championships

This spirited annual competition celebrates Yukon’s golden heritage and an industry that’s still alive and well in the Klondike. Part of Dawson City’s Canada Day celebrations, the competition is open to amateurs and professionals alike. Try your hand at extracting gold flake from a bucket of dirt in a variety of events, and experience what it’s like to be a goldpanner in the Yukon.

Yukon Quest International Dog Sled Race

Experience the thrill of the world’s greatest sled dog race

The legendary Yukon Quest challenges mushers and their dog teams to traverse the frozen wilderness between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska each February. Spectators from around the world travel to the Yukon to witness the event live, while thousands follow the race progress online. The Quest trail follows historical gold rush and mail delivery routes, but varied weather and trail conditions provide a fresh challenge for mushers and their dogs every year

Commissioner’s Tea and Klondike Ball

Don't miss the regal Commissioner's Ball at Dawson City's renowned Palace Grand Theatre. Get decked out in all your finest and step back in time.

Held each year in recognition of our territory officially joining the dominion of Canada, this event draws Yukoners and visitors from far and wide.

Dress is formal and many take the opportunity to dress in the styles of 1898. A tea is held during the day at the Commissioner's Residence. A ball takes place at night with great food, potable spirits and dancing.

Percy Dewolfe Memorial Mail Race

The Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race is a 210 mile (338 km) international dog sled race, running from Dawson City, Yukon to Eagle, Alaska and return. The race follows the Yukon River along the historic mail route of legendary mail carrier Percy DeWolfe.

The race attracts world class mushers from other well known races such as the Yukon Quest and Iditarod, and is a qualifying race for both."
