An abundant, wild kingdom!
Yukon’s vast wild regions, varied ecosystems, and relatively sparse human population make the Yukon a haven for some of North America’s most rare and impressive species.
Where moose outnumber people two to one!
Viewing opportunities exist throughout the Yukon, from in town sightings to incredible wilderness encounters. Road travellers can find plenty of opportunities to spot bears, moose, elk, bison, and sheep while driving our network of highways.
Our wilderness parks and areas provide an excellent setting to enjoy moose and caribou or experience the antics of our smaller creatures like marmots, pikas, porcupines and red foxes. Please treat all wildlife with respect and do not approach or harass them.
Wildlife viewing tips

- Wildlife are more active in early morning and evening. Take a short walk before breakfast or after dinner
- Keep your distance and use binoculars, spotting scopes, and telephoto lenses to get a closer look.
