Otelina Sanchez was born and raised in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. She moved to the Yukon in 1976. After a long career with Northwestel, in 1996 she decided to open her own business. Sanchez Mexican Deli was established as a small shop, offering Mexican arts & crafts, canned products and food to go.
Over the years, Otelina’s business blossomed and became a family-oriented restaurant, now called Sanchez Cantina. A terraza was built, a dining room was added and this allowed Otelina to share a wider variety of dishes that she was raised with in Southern Mexico.
