On this 14-day wilderness adventure you will retrace the route of the historic Klondike Gold Rush of 1898, and experience the spell of the Yukon in much the same way as the original stampeders did on “the trail of 98”. This tour is for people who want to challenge themselves physically and be rewarded in a way that only human-powered wilderness travel can.
First on foot you will hike the historic Chilkoot Trail, and then by canoe you will paddle on the mighty Yukon River to Dawson City.
The Donjek Glacier hiking route in Kluane National Park is a challenging off-trail hike backpacking trip requiring good physical conditioning and a positive attitude. The reward of these trials is a sense of connection to the land that can only be felt when traveling as the animals do, by picking and choosing a suitable path: adapting ourselves to the land, rather than trying to adapt it to ourselves
The tiny village of Haines Junction, surrounded by mountains is located on the Alaska Highway west of Whitehorse. It is the starting point of our adventures in the Kluane Park, which covers 22,000 square km of remote mountain wilderness close to the Alaska boarder. Mount Logan with 5959 m, the highest mountain in Canada, is part of the ice-covered St. Elias Mountains.
We stay for 5 nights in beautiful Cabins and hike four easy to moderate trails in different areas of the Kluane National Park.
Following the steps of the "stampeders" over the Chilkoot Pass.
We drive with the historic White Pass & Yukon Route railway over the White Pass to Skagway. We follow the Trail, which was crossed by more than 100 000 men und women at the end of the 18th century on their way to Klondike goldfields.
After five days hiking, we reach Lake Bennett, the end point of the Chilkoot Trail. We fly back to Whitehorse with a water plane and have a chance to see this unique landscape from the bird`s-eye view.
Step back in time with us as we travel the historic Chilkoot trail. Follow in the footprints of the intrepid miners as they attempted to cross the "Golden Staircase" on their way towards distant Dawson city.
An important part of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush era, the Chilkoot trail is a great combination of history, scenery and challenge.
All travel to and from Whitehorse is included in the package and you will also enjoy a ride on the narrow gauge White Pass Railway.
Join us in the "Patagonia of the North" as we fly into the stunning Tombstone Mountain Range for a multi-day hiking experience. Late summer in these mountain valleys produces vistas full of vibrant orange, yellow and red. Our itinerary includes a number of day-hikes from base camps creating a more moderate overall hiking experience. The Tombstones are truly one of Canada's best kept secrets.
