Yukon Wildland Fire Management

PLEASE HELP PROTECT YUKON HOMES AND
COMMUNITIES FROM PREVENTABLE FOREST FIRES
Every fire season Yukon Wildland Fire Management relies on the public’s support. From burning responsibly and reporting wildfires to obtaining burning permits and ensuring your property is FireSmart you play an integral role. Here are some ways you can do your part.
• When having a campfire always make sure a water source is nearby, monitor your fire closely and make sure it’s out and cold to touch before leaving the area.
• Get a permit. If you are planning to burn grass, brush or debris, or to light an open fire for any purpose other than a campfire you must obtain a burning permit. Permits are free and mandatory from April 1 until September 30.
• Report wildfires immediately to 1-888-798-3473.
