Tour Yukon's most extensive Wildlife Museum and stroll among creatures of Yukon's past and present, with favorites including grizzly bears, monster moose, woolly mammoth, and the World’s largest mounted polar bear.
Absorb some regional history with Caribou Crossing’s newest exhibit, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police heritage center. This interpretive display focuses on the history of Canada’s ‘Mounties’ and highlights their role in the Yukon Territory during the Klondike Gold Rush.

Additional onsite activities include scenic helicopter rides over the area and gold panning.
Stick around for lunch at the Caribou Café. Affordable admission rates ($7.75) gain admission to the museums, a visit with their adorable husky puppies, and also a stroll through the petting farm.

Fortymile Gold Workshop

Leslie Chapman is the owner/goldsmith at Fortymile Gold Workshop on the corner of 3rd Ave. and York Street in downtown Dawson City. You can visit her studio to watch her melt gold dust to hand fabricate unique and beautiful 20K gold jewellery. She calls the gold she uses from her family’s placer mine on the historic Fortymile River “green gold”. Her clients can feel confident that the gold jewellery originating in her studio has not caused harm to the environment and has not exploited labour. Her work incorporates natural gold nuggets and mammoth ivory from Yukon placer mines, Canadian diamonds from the NWT, as well as other gem stones.
Leslie’s studio is also a gallery featuring a collection of interesting original art by some of the most creative of Yukon’s artists and artisans. Fortymile Gold Workshop is an interesting stop for the discerning visitor and not to be missed.

Yukon Rock Shop is a family owned business operated out of our home on the South Klondyke Highway about 1/4 mile from the Alaska Highway junction.

We have a wide variety of local and imported mineral specimens in addition to souvenirs made up on location with local minerals and track spikes.

The yard is full of old hard rock mining equipment and piles of local mine rock and photographers are welcome.
Information on local collecting is available and mine tours can be arranged when Paul Wray is available.
As we are operating out of our home, our hours are generally 7 days a week including evenings. It is a good idea to phone ahead. Our number is (867) 668-2772.
