Cathers Wilderness Adventures

Cathers Wilderness Adventures is a two-generation family business offering year-round wilderness experiences.
In winter, we welcome guests for dog sledding. In summer, we offer cabin-based stays (with guided day activities) at our wilderness home on Lake Laberge, as well as camping trips: hiking and backpacking supported by pack dogs, and canoe or boat camping along the historic Yukon River.
Located 30 miles (50 km) north of Whitehorse, there is no road to our shore of the lake. Access to our home and cabins is by dog team or snow machine in winter and by boat or canoe in summer. Our trips focus on small groups or individuals and are personally guided by our family. Our experience includes 30 years living year-round in this spectacular location, guiding since the mid-1970’s, and thousands of miles of travel in the Yukon wilderness - camping, guiding, sled dog racing, and hauling supplies to our home.
We customize trips for individual interests and abilities. Scheduled trips are also available. From 1 day to 1 month stays or longer, feel at home in the wilderness.

Taiga Journeys

Did you ever dream of paddling a remote river in untouched wilderness? Or hike where only few humans have been before you? We invite you to explore the fascinating land of the Yukon Territory. Come and paddle a pristine northern river, join us for a hike in the Coast Mountain Range or in one of the great Parks

Time is free for inspiration and reflection on things that truly matter to you. A Taiga Journey rejuvenates and nourishes your spirit. It is traveling in a respectful way, keeping the footprint as small as possible. Our local guides share with you their knowledge and you will feel their passion of the land.

You can also rent a cozy log cabin on a secluded lake where you can experience remoteness on your own. You may enjoy this little paradise for paddling, angling and the undisturbed nature also invites for photography and short hikes.

Should you have limited time, we can take you on day hikes around Whitehorse or bird watching at a nearby marsh. In the shoulder season and during winter we offer a variety of nature encounter tours.
