Why snowshoe hares need snowshoes
On our three hour stroll through the boreal forest, we come across animal tracks such as the snowshoe hare’s and discover their creative ways for adaptation to the winter environment. How is the snowshoe hare adapted to traveling on snow? What does he eat during winter? What about the beaver that lives here? Guided by a local naturalist you will interpret the signs and understand the survival strategies of plants and animals that make the boreal forest their home. An interpretive booklet encourages you to take your own notes and draw sketches. Bring your warm winter clothing and your camera. You will have the opportunity to take your very own special pictures of a frosty environment and an iced over creek!

Wilderness Dog Sledding Week

Come Home to the Wilderness - This 7-day dog sledding experience is based from our wilderness cabins at Lake Laberge.  After mushing in to our cabins on Day 1, you will spend several days learning to drive your own team on the spectacular trails in the area, enjoying campfire lunches and picnics on the trail.  Towards the end of the week, we head out for a dog team camp-out.

We stay overnight in a Gold Rush style wall tent, heated by wood stove.   The camp-out is a special way to spend time with your team: settling them for the night, melting snow over a campfire for their water, feeding them – and perhaps if you are lucky, being treated to an after-dinner howl in the moonlight.  We have been guiding dog sled tours for 26 years.
