When she was 24, Michele Genest travelled to Greece and fell in love with cooking, a passion she brought all the way back to the Yukon. Now she runs The Boreal Gourmet, an online recipe book full of ingredients, techniques and styles that are far from traditional. A typical trip to the supermarket takes her to the boreal for berries, the hills for herbs and the spruce trees for tips, when they’re in season.
