You’ll be kicking off your Yukon excursions in Whitehorse, which is just a 25-minute drive from some animal-filled trails and mineral-filled hot springs. So, if snowshoeing is your speed, head out on a 1.3 km trek from the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to the Takhini Hot Springs.

During this 20-minute hike, you’ll be able to play a few rounds of “what winter wildlife can I spot?” Answer: two arctic foxes, three mountain goats, and one moose. Once you’ve exhausted your wildlife-spotting skills and your hamstrings, get ready to soak your muscles in some warm, relaxing pools. You packed a swimsuit, right?

Take a longer trip to some higher peaks
It usually takes about 2 hours to drive from Whitehorse to Kluane National Park but this estimate does not include picture-taking pit stops. And since all 181 km of this road are chock-full of great views, you might want to factor in some photo op time—and some extra space in your camera roll.

Enjoy the waterfront scenes
Looking to squeeze a few locations into a single outing? We recommend travelling around some of the Southern Lakes communities. From Whitehorse, make your way down to Marsh Lake and visit, well, the lake. The glistening water is particularly stunning at Army Beach. When you’re done taking in the amazing shoreline, cruise on down to Tagish. And while you’re there, visit some super talented local artisans before you get back on the road.

The last leg of the journey will take you to Car cross. This community is absolutely filled with unique food and local art. And at Car cross Commons, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in everything from amazing restaurants to boutiques and live performances.
This whole tour will take just over 2 hours, which is just enough time to get lost in a new Jack London audio book. So, roll those windows down, turn the volume up, and let the narrator’s soothing voice carry you along the lakeside roads for 137.7 km.

Take a quick cultural jaunt
The drive from Whitehorse to Dawson City takes about 6 hours. But since the views along the Klondike Highway are so stunning, the time will pass in a flash of dazzling scenery. Before you know it, you’ll be exploring your way around some pretty charming museums.

The Dawson City Museum is just 500 meters from the Jack London Museum and it’ll take you about 6 minutes to walk between them. While you’re processing everything you just learned about Jack London’s amazing life, walk on over to the Dawson City Museum to take in some more information about the city’s rich history, the Yukon’s First Peoples, and the gold rush.

From colorful buildings to sky-scraping mountains
While we haven’t done exact calculations, it would take an elk approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to trot its way from Dawson City to Tombstone Territorial Park. Luckily, your car will travel this 100 km route in just 1 hour and 15 minutes.
