Horseback riding
Become a western movie cliché
The Yukon has plenty of panoramic backdrops for you to ride off into the sunset. But first, take a few minutes to get to know your trusty steed before saddling up and heading out.
Motorless but with plenty of horsepower, this quiet ride lets you hear more of what nature has to offer, like the chirping of a bird, the scurrying of a chipmunk and the fake shutter sound of a camera phone. Follow game trails that lead through spruce forests and alongside rivers, or historic freight routes from the gold rush era. Guided tours take riders to some of the Yukon’s most beautiful places, like picture-perfect Fish Lake and the jaw-dropping landscape of Tombstone Territorial Park. Spend an afternoon splashing through creeks and trotting up to breathtaking views. Or take an overnight expedition into the backcountry and wake up to the smell of fresh coffee brewed over an open campfire. But if a cafè latte is more to your liking, you’ll need to grab an Uber to the nearest Starbucks. Note: we don’t have Uber.
Tour operators can accommodate riders of all skill levels and deliver a variety of wilderness experiences. So enjoy the Yukon’s pristine nature with your seat in the saddle. Happy trails to you.
